Electron microscopy observations of the incommensurate phase in berlinite and quartz : interference contrast in the c-zone axis conditions
نویسندگان
چکیده
2014 The triply modulated incommensurate phase of berlinite and quartz is imaged by electron microscopy in c-zone axis orientation conditions. The systematic study of the images and of the incommensurate diffraction satellites shows that the apparently triangular dark/light contrast pattern obtained with the transmitted beam or a general hk0-reflection and the surrounding satellites can be explained by an interference contrast model similar to that for usual high resolution lattice imaging. This interference image is consistent with the phase relation of the triple incommensurate modulation conjectured by the minimisation of the free energy, according to the existing theoretical work. Investigation of metamorphic conditions and mineralogical changes at green-schist to amphibolite facies transition zone using phase diagrams and compositions of the mineral: a case study from the Kordestan province metabasites
In this paper, metamorphic conditions (T, P and fluid composition) in greenschist to amphibolite facies transition zone are investigated using textural evidence, compositions of the minerals and phase diagrams. Metabasits from the south of Kordestan province were metamorphosed from sub-greenschist to upper amphibolite facies. Field observations and petrography studies show that there are some r...

Notwithstanding the existence of such famous sites as Shar-i Sokhta from the Bronze Age, southeastern Iran represents a lacuna in Iranian archaeology. Chance discovery of the prehistoric, third millennium BC, site of Keshik in Nikshahr, Sistan and Baluchistan Province provides an opportunity to study new archaeological finds from this quarter of Iran. The main part of Keshik was a Bronze Age ce...
متن کاملCrystallographic preferred orientations analysis of quartz crystals in Psammite using electron backscatter diffraction, western Ireland
The present study investigates the crystal preferred orientation (CPO) of quartz crystals in psammitic rocks to ascertain the deformationmechanism using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) on quartz crystals from north of the Renvyle-Bofin Slide (RBS) nearLetterfrack in western Ireland. Complete crystallographic orientations were determined for several thousand individual quartz crystalsin ...

The Chadegan metamorphic complex is a WNW-ESE- trending antiformal structure located in Sanandaj-Sirjan structural zone, Iran. The inner core of the structure is made of orthogneiss, containing eclogitic lenses. Schists and marbles lie structurally above theorthogneiss and crop out in the external limbs of the antiformal dome. Two main deformational episodes have been documented in theschists an...
متن کاملSignatures of the Balarud Deep Seated Fault Zone in Khushab Anticline, SW Iran, An Integrated Study
The Khushab anticline is located in the Zagros fold-thrust belt in the Lurestan. This anticline is affected by the Balarud fault zone, which is a part of Mountain Front Fault between the Lurestan and Dezful Embayment zones. Based on the measurement of the elements of fold style, this anticline is analyzed. According to these measurements, this anticline is a noncylindrical, asymmetrical and dis...
